Sleep Is Priceless

As a mom of four boys with eczema-prone skin, I know firsthand that sleep is priceless.

When my boys were little, I searched for pajamas that checked every box: stretchy enough for comfortable movement, thin and breathable for sensitive skin, unbelievably soft, and finished in the timeless, classic prints I actually wanted them to wear. I couldn’t find them—so The Uptown Baby was born.

What began as a small launch to family and friends was quickly met with an incredible response. Soon after, my best friend, Stephanie Smith, joined me as Co-Owner and COO, helping turn a simple idea into the brand we have today.

The Uptown Baby is now carried in more than 200 boutiques nationwide and worn in tens of thousands of homes—something we could have only dreamed of when we started.

As a mom of three under 14 months, Elissa Helling knows firsthand the value of a good night’s sleep—for both babies and their parents. Inspired by her own journey of navigating motherhood while seeking quiet, restorative rest, Elissa set out to create The Uptown Baby. Her vision was clear: to provide high-quality, thoughtfully designed sleepwear and essentials that prioritize comfort, functionality, and style.
